How to Collect a System Dump from a Storage Array with No SVP

Objective

Collect dump data for problem determination for the Global Support Center.

Environment

  • VSP G130 G/F350 G/F370 G/F700 G/F900
  • VSP E Series
  • No SVP or SVP2
  • Storage Advisor Embedded (HSAE)
  • Maintenance Utility

Procedure

1. Confirm the Browser popup blocker setting is disabled. Popup windows must be allowed.

2. Log in to Storage Advisor Embedded using the public IP address of Controller 1 or Controller 2.

 NOTE: If one controller is unavailable due to failure or maintenance, connect to the working controller to avoid collecting an invalid dump.

3. Use the link on the right side of the browser, next to Warning, to open the Maintenance Utility.

  • Click on the icon, then select Maintenance Utility.

 NOTE: It is possible to access the Maintenance Utility directly by specifying the IP address of Storage Advisor Embedded followed by /MaintenanceUtility/, e.g., https://x.x.x.x/MaintenanceUtility/. 

4. In the Maintenance Utility, navigate to the menu, select System Management, and then choose Download System Dump.

  • The default dump type for Global Support Analysis is System Dump.

5. Select OK in the confirmation window

6. Choose a location to save the dump file. The file name to save is hdcp_dump.dmp.

7. Wait several minutes until a message confirms the dump has completed downloading.

8. Transfer the file to the Global Support Center to the Upload Facility (TUF)

Additional Notes

The file to collect and transfer is named hdcp_dump.dmp.
